REAL LIFE RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Arctic Security Starts with Community

At the Real Life Research Institute, we understand Arctic security
as something grounded in strong, connected, and inclusive
communities. Explore our three flagship programs driving safety
and belonging in the North.

What makes people feel safe and at home in the North?

Sports & Community Engagement

We believe people feel safer when they have meaningful opportunities to connect across cultures and generations. Through our Community Soccer Initiative and Iqaluit Unity Race, we create shared spaces that reduce isolation, strengthen relationships, and build belonging in the North.

Multiculturalism & Food Festival

Arctic security is rooted in inclusive, connected communities. Our multiculturalism programming creates spaces for cultural exchange that reduce divides and build a shared sense of belonging — strengthening social cohesion, trust, and resilience in Iqaluit and across the North.

Research & Northern–Southern Dialogue

Effective Arctic security must be grounded in local realities. Our Research & Northern–Southern Dialogue program bridges community knowledge and policy — connecting Northern communities with researchers and decision-makers to ensure Arctic security reflects lived experiences in the North.
